Proposed Treatment:
SUPPORT: Glue-lined. Repaired tear directly above sitter's head. Stretcher: expansion. Good.
GROUND/PAINT LAYERS: Good.
SURFACE COATING: Synthetic varnish, type unknown. Undiscoloured.
GENERAL CONDITION: Structurally sound. Clean. Some retouchings have gone a little matt, i.e. tear above sitter's head.
PROPOSED TREATMENT: Adjust surface gloss of matt retouchings with local application of varnISh, and /or overall spray application.

FRAME
CONDITION: Good. New backing board. Framed with nails and strips of metal no cushion in rebate.
PROPOSED TREATMENT: Refit in frame with cushioning.
